Fordham University Gabelli School of Business seni Fordham University Gabelli School of Business senior, Mia DeMeola, '23, was recently selected as a scholarship recipient as part of the 2023 Fashion Scholarship Fund competition. Thanks to her exceptional case submission, which demonstrated a commitment to ethical and sustainable fashion, Neiman Marcus Group has chosen DeMeola to receive a Neiman Marcus Group x FSF Scholarship which will bring her total award to $10,000.

As part of the first cohort of Neiman Marcus Group x FSF Scholars, DeMeola will be provided mentorship, outfit dressing for the FSF Live Gala and educational webinars with NMG leaders on sustainable and ethical fashion over the next year.

The opportunity for students to apply to the Fashion Scholarship Fund came from the existing partnership between the Gabelli School's Responsible Business Coalition (@fordhamrbc) and @neimanmarcus. It is just one of the ways the RBC is helping students engage in efforts to make the fashion industry more sustainable.

When we look back at this past year, one of the ma When we look back at this past year, one of the many outstanding events enjoyed by our marketing students through the Marketing Area at the Gabelli School of Business was Advertising Week NYC. This premier event brings together industry leaders, marketers, visionaries, entertainers and entrepreneurs from all over the globe for four days of workshops, panel discussions and seminars. Students were impressed with the wide range of topics from social media, cultural trends, gaming, storytelling, interpreting data, branding, sports, to the future of programmatic, NFTs and the Metaverse. Thirty students from our undergraduate marketing program and thirty from our M.S. in Marketing Intelligence program found the event to be not only a great learning experience but also a chance to network with industry leaders, innovators and entrepreneurs.

Bearose Beltran, M.S. ’23, learned that NFTs were a way to “push the marketing experience further and gamify it.” Eun Jin Jung, M.S. ’22, listened to a discussion on the importance of creativity in data analysis to develop marketing solutions for specific audiences. Regina Leon Velasco, Marketing Scholar candidate and B.S. ’24, learned that authenticity was a key ingredient for the success of a business, especially when using celebrities or social media influencers. Kevin Fei, B.S. ’24, gained an insight that everyone can be a storyteller and that even food can be a powerful tool for connection.

Our students look forward to more opportunities and events such as this in coming year.
